Kool Seal Elastomeric Roof System

The Kool Seal Elastomeric Roof System Coating and Patching System includes White Acrylic Patching Cement, Elastomeric Roof Coating and Kool Flexx Reinforcing Grid.  These products should generally be used together to care for your roof.

Roof System Product Descriptions:

The Kool Seal White Patching Cement Can be used on cracks of 1/4" or less.  It retains its elasticity.

Kool Flexx Reinforcing Grid is a reinforcing grid to be used with Kool Seal cements. Provides a strong flexible repair that allows for expansion and contraction on all cracks, seams and stress areas. Specifically designed to ensure cement adhesion.

Kool Seal White Plastic Roof Coating is an alkyd based product pigmented with a high grade titanium dioxide to produce a highly reflective coating that reduces cooling costs and saves energy. Fast drying properties make it ideally suited to areas often experiencing inclement weather. This product is not recommended for application over black or aluminum asphalt coatings since asphalt tends to
discolor the white plastic coating.

Coverage:
Generally apply the roof coating at the rate of 75 sq. ft. per gallon over new roofs and smooth metal.  Coverage may decrease to 50 sq. ft. per gallon over porous surfaces.

Surface Preparation:
Remove all dirt, debris, loose rust and scaled previous coating. Remove all rust with a wire brush and prime these areas with a metal primer. Remove all oils and grease. Clean the surface with a water and T.S.P. solution. Simply sweeping a roof prior to coating is ineffective. Tighten or replace any loose screws or fasteners. Where pooled water conditions persist beyond 2-3 days, roof drains or other corrective measures must be installed to eliminate water build-up.

PATCH
Patch all cracks, leaks and seams around vents, stacks, and air conditioners with
Kool Seal Patching Cement.

REINFORCE
Next, press the Reinforcing Grid into freshly applied White Patching Cement.

Note: The flexible grid pattern of Kool Flexx "Locks" into the cured Kool Seal Patching Cement
and moves with the expansion and contraction of the crack giving you a water tight protection
against leaks.

COAT
Use a soft roof brush or roller to apply Kool Seal Elastomric Roof Coating. Avoid excessive brushing and spread coating uniformly. See the information on the Kool Seal White Elastomeric Roof Coating for information about this roof coating material.

Apply two coats. Apply the first coat in one direction and the second coat in a cross direction. Based on temperature and humidity,  it is recommended that you stop applying by three o'clock in the afternoon.  We recommend that you refer to label directions before applying
