Now, I know I write a few times a year about why putting your RV on consignment is a wise thing to do for quite a few reasons, actually. First, I’m not talking to those RVers who rarely use their RVs either. I’m talking to the Hypothetical RVer who puts decent mileage on their rig every year. These are the they that like to use it almost every weekend, or plan multiple long term trips a year. It’s been a pretty reliable vehicle and shelter, but you are considering making a change. Put your RV on consignment.
Now, for as much as we love our current rig, there’s always that little part in every RVer that thinks, “this (insert feature here) was great for a while, but I think it’s time to upgrade”, or “I want to get a different model”. That’s OK, the fact of the mater is that you are helping the RV industry grow. Here’s how I look at it, here’s nothing wrong with letting your current rig go in favor of a different make, model or floor plan. There is a market for the RV you are looking to unload. Think of it this way, even though you’ve think you’ve outgrown your RV, there are plenty of people how still have room to grow into your RV. It might not be right for you any more, but it could be right for someone else right now.
The other great thing about consignment is avoiding all of the hassle of having to sell it yourself. Now, I know some people may like meeting strangers in parking lot and letting them climb all through their RVs, asking questions that, quite frankly, probably don’t make a whole lotta’ sense anyway. Or, even worse, it makes total sense you just don’t know the answer, whereby you blow the sale. I don’t know about you, but that is just too much for your average person to have to deal with, especially in regards to something that brought them so much relaxation over the years. It may put a bad taste in your mouth.
If you are buying an RV on consignment, then you have the good fortune to get more RV for less money. The amount that you save when you buy a consigned RV, really does out weigh any miles, or over all use. Think of it this way, you can get a larger RV with more amenities when buying one on consignment when compared to buying new.
Of course, you are still going to want to do a little research about the consignment RV dealer you are deciding to purchase from. If you’d like to know a little bit more on the benefits of both buying, or selling an RV on consignment, don’t hesitate to give us a call here at PPL Motorhomes. We’ll walk you through the entire process and answer any questions you may have.
OH, BOY, Poison Ivy is back! That 3 leafed terror of nature and destroyer of vacation fun is starting to rear it’s ugly head once again. What should you look for in order to avoid coming in contact with this pesky foliage and what do you do if you do happen to brush up against some while exploring your outdoor wonderland?
First, know what to look for:
Here’s another picture: Note the 3 leaves
What does a poison ivy rash look like and how does it feel? Well, it feels like a constant burning and desire to scratch. Avoid scratching, you can actually spread the oils over other parts of your skin and infect other areas. Also, if you think you’ve come in contact with poison ivy, you should wash the infected area with oil cutting soap, like a dish washing liquid within 10 minutes of contact. Obviously you need to wash your clothes immediately. Animals can carry the oils on their fur too, so if you and your pooch went for a walk out in the woods, just know that they could have picked up some oil on their fur that can be transferred to you as well.
This is what a poison ivy rash looks like:
Looks pretty nasty, huh? You can actually see where the vine made contact. This looks extremely painful. If you are allergic and have had bouts with poison ivy, than you already know this to be true. That actually leads me to an interesting side note, not everyone will feel the effects of poison ivy, you actually have to be allergic to it to respond with blistering. Now keep in mind, if you aren’t allergic now, you can actually develop the allergy in the future, so your best bet is to just avoid the plant altogether.
Here’s a great video on what to look for and how you can help relieve some of the discomfort. Any local pharmacy will have any number of creams you can apply to help with the itching.
Sometimes we are having so much fun out doors in our RVs and camping that we forget that Mother Nature isn’t always nice. There are a variety of plants and animals out there whose defensive mechanisms can be very painful, if not down right dangerous when encountered. A very sever reaction to poison ivy can actually land you in the hospital, so be careful out there.
However, don’t let that keep you from going RVing and enjoying the outdoors. You know as well as I do that there isn’t anything like having the freedom to go anywhere you want, anytime you want in your new, or RV. Give PPL Motorhomes a call when you are ready to tackle the RV lifestyle and come and take a look at some of the fantastic consignment RVs we have to help you hit the road this Spring and Summer.
There comes a time in every RVer’s life when they decide that it’s time for a change. Time to start shopping for a new RV. Spring is usually the time many RVers choose to start the process of looking for a new rig. They could be looking for something that is bigger, with more luxury. Or, they could be downsizing for a myriad of reasons as well. They look for new, but will certainly exhaust the used market as well looking for the RV deal of the year. If you are considering selling your RV, Spring is usually the best time to do it. That being said, it always make me wonder why many RVers choose to trade their RV in at a dealership as opposed to putting it on consignment. Not that trading in your RV is bad, but you could lose massive amounts of money, as opposed to putting that RV on consignment.
Think of it this way. Sure you can trade in your current RV and, in many cases, get less than half of what your RV is currently worth to put towards a new RV. But, wouldn’t you want to get the most money you can for your used RV? Of course you do! Well, consider putting your RV on consignment. Let me put it to you this way, PPL Motorhomes has sold 247 RVs in the last 45 days. You read that right: 247 in 45 days. Why couldn’t that be your RV? Oh, that’s right, because you were going to put it towards your trade. Maybe our video below will convince you to put your RV on consignment with PPL Motorhomes.
The bottom line is that we generally have more RV buyers than we have RVs to sell and that means your RV will sell faster and you will get more money for it! Anyway you cut it, you simply can’t beat 2,500 to 3,500 potential buyers per month. It’s really hard to get that kind of exposure if you are attempting to sell your RV on your own.
We have over 45 years in the consignment RV market which easily places PPL Motorhomes at the top of the list for both potential customers as well as those looking to put their RV on consignment. If you have any questions on either putting your RV on consignment, or purchasing a consignment RV, don’t hesitate to call either of our two locations: PPL Motorhomes in Houston & PPL Motorhomes in New Braunfels.
If there’s one thing that your consignment RV center of Houston, PPL motorhomes, knows it’s having a list of “don’t leave home without them items.” This includes, food, soap, propane, TP and all sorts of other things. Another “never leave home without it” item is Quick Roof Extreme, of course, we all hope to never have anything happen to the roof of our RV, but this sis a handy item to keep on hand “just in case.” Unfortunately, some of our favorite RV parks have big beautiful trees and a one little branch that jumps out while you are parking your RV could become big trouble if you don’t have this repair kit on hand.
Quick Roof Extreme w/Steel-Loc adhesive. Permanently and instantly repairs: EPDM, TPO, Metal, Fiberglass, Aged & Rigid PVC, Vinyl, Wood, OSB and most building materials. It can be applied to most materials even when damp or wet!
Quick Roof Extreme is guaranteed not to crack, harden, or shrink. It instantly stops leaks and permanently repairs: all roof materials, vents, skylights, slide-outs, windows, awnings, holding tanks, tents, and more! (15 year limited warranty.)
Available in 4″ x 25′, or 6″ x 25′ rolls.
We were in Kerrville parked under a beautiful tree for several days and during that time we had a little storm blow through the area. There were no branches in the way when we parked our 5th wheel, but the storm had broken one branch and it tore a small rip in our roof. No need to fear. We simply followed the instructions on the Quick Roof package and had no problems at all. Left unattended, this could have been a costly tree branch. Well worth keeping this little package with you on the road!

I have been with PPL Motor Homes since 1980 and have been fortunate enough to grow up with the company. A native Houstonian, I have been blessed with years of wonderful experiences and memories of RVing with family and friends. With 3 children, 8 grandchildren and a ton of friends who I refer to as my adopted family, I was a Nana long before I became RV Nana. I was blessed to have shared this lifestyle with my late husband, a Cajun from Lafayette, and his spirit will live on in all of us as we continue down the road of life.
My life with PPL has given me so many wonderful chapters, from sharing my RV experiences as RV Nana to working with the Texas Campground Owners Association and holding the position of President of the Texas RV Association from 2011-2013, so it’s easy to see that the RV lifestyle is my style. Watch for me on the road …I’m the one with the RV Nana license plates on my car and RV, and share your RV experiences with me. See you soon!
