Motor Home Blue Books and Other Appraisal Methods
A Motor Home Blue Book would seem to be a straight forward and convenient way to price a motor home you want to sell. PPL believes motor home pricing guides, however can be misleading. Thus, pricing an RV should be based mainly on actual motorhome and RV sales data. Click on any of the topics below for additional explanation of each topic.

Price Guides
Please note the following about motor home blue books as compared to automobile guides:
- Price guide values for automobiles are determined by analyzing a vast amount of actual used car sales data.
- Price guide values for used motorhomes are generally determined by discounting the original manufacturers suggested retail price by a percentage and therefore, are not accurate. If you are not careful, many options will be double counted because they are already included in the original manufacturers suggested retail. PPL does not recommend relying on book values.
This means price guides may not even be close to current market value. Also, many options are included in the original manufacturers suggested retail price so it is difficult to know which, if any, options should be added.
