Book values for used RVs are mainly based on a percentage of the original MSRP unlike Automobile blue books which are derived from huge amounts of actual auto sales data. Thus recreational vehicle book values may not even be close to current market value. Also, many options are included in the original manufacturers suggested retail so it is difficult to know which, if any, options should be added. This makes using blue books difficult.
Kelley Blue Books not available online. However, you may purchase these blue books from PPL although these book values are likely to be inaccurate but may be of some value. The costs below are for a single recent issue and not for an annual subscription.
PPL recommends that you call to discuss the value of the recreational vehicle you are selling because of the difficulty of using and inaccuracy of the published price guides. We will even look up book values for you at no charge or obligation. However, PPL's appraisal methods based on actual selling prices are more accurate. Factors to Consider in Valuing Your Unit
Various factors affect the value of your recreational vehicle. Some of the important ones include:
- Overall condition: Does it have dents, discoloration, water leaks, interior stains or other structural imperfections? Has it been well maintained or is it in need of repairs?
- Mileage: If motorized, does it have normal mileage and does it run as expected for a unit of its age and mileage?
- Accessories: such as tow bars, awnings, satellite antenna, hydraulic levelers, a backup camera etc. Keep in mind many of these items are included in blue book values.
